Dr. Ricci Hellman has been named as the new Executive Director of Friends For Life Corporation, Memphis, Tenn. She will be joining the staff July 17, 2006.
Dr. Ricci A. Hellman has most recently served as Deputy Director at the Memphis Shelby Crime Commission. In her work at the Crime Commission, Ricci served as Acting CEO for one year while the Crime Commission’s President and CEO went to Iraq to train the Iraqi police force.
Ricci is a licensed professional counselor in the State of Tennessee and a national certified counselor. As a therapist, Ricci has worked at the Memphis Sexual Assault Resource Center and at Rhodes College in Memphis and at Cornell College in Mt. Vernon, IA.
Ricci is an honoree at the Memphis Women’s Magazine’s 2006 Fifty Women Who Make a Difference in Memphis. She is a past nominee for Crime Justice Professional of the Year Award during national Victims Rights Week. Ricci is the Chair of the Board for the Shelby County Domestic Violence Council (DVC), and currently serves on the DVC’s Board of Directors. Ricci is also on the Board of Directors for the Southeast Memphis Community Development Corporation, and is on the advisory board for the LeMoyne Owen Community Development Corporation. Ricci is currently a nominee to serve on the Board of Directors for the Tennessee Coalition Against Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence.
Ricci earned her doctoral degree (Ed. D) through the Department of Counseling, Educational Psychology & Research at the University of Memphis. Ricci has a M.S. in Counseling and Student Personnel Services from the University of Memphis and a B.A. in Sociology and Anthropology from Rhodes College.
